Keep, Downgrade or Close?

Make the renewal decision with annual value—not emotion.

Compare an existing card with a specific alternative using the same spending model. Add only the personal value of benefits you genuinely use, then account for one-time switching cost before deciding.

Three different actions

A downgrade is not the same as closing

Keeping is reasonable when the current card’s modelled rewards and personally used benefits cover its recurring cost at least as well as the alternative. If a lower-fee alternative comes from the same issuer, the tool labels it as a downgrade discussion—not a guaranteed product-conversion path. The issuer decides which changes are available and whether benefits, card age or the account number continue.

If another issuer is materially better, the result says replace or review closure. Apply and confirm the replacement first if continued credit access matters. Redeem points, move recurring payments, clear instalments and obtain written closure confirmation before treating an account as closed.

What is not monetised

Account history and utilisation need a human check

Closing a card can change your total available limit and therefore credit utilisation. It may also remove a long-standing account from your active portfolio. Accurate Paisa does not predict a credit score change because bureau models and your complete credit file are not available here. Those factors appear as a required checklist rather than a made-up rupee amount.

Enter lounge visits, vouchers or insurance only at the value you would willingly pay yourself. Do not use issuer list price for a benefit you would never purchase. Review reward expiry, supplementary cards, standing instructions, pending refunds and unbilled transactions before requesting any closure.

Before closing

Clear all dues, redeem or transfer points, move autopay mandates, download needed records, ask about downgrade options and retain the issuer’s closure acknowledgement.
