Headline rate
Check whether the advertised rate applies to every purchase, selected merchants or only one spending channel.
Compare cashback cards by the rupees you may keep after reward caps, exclusions, annual fees and GST—not by the headline percentage alone.

Convert every monthly or statement-cycle cap into an annual ceiling before comparing cards.
Subtract the annual fee and GST unless your normal spending reaches the published waiver threshold.
Practical guide
A cashback card is useful when the reward reaches your statement or account in a form that is easy to value. A 5% headline does not mean 5% on the whole monthly bill. Issuers may restrict the higher rate to online transactions, selected merchants or a small monthly cap, while other eligible spending earns a lower base rate. Our comparison uses the relevant category rules and presents the result in rupees so that two differently worded offers can be measured on the same basis.
Begin with ordinary spending rather than the card offer. Enter realistic monthly amounts for shopping, groceries, food, utilities, fuel, UPI and offline purchases. The calculator annualises that same pattern for every card, applies supported caps and exclusions, checks the fee-waiver threshold and subtracts any fee that remains. This avoids rewarding a card merely because it has an impressive rate in a category you rarely use.
Cashback should never encourage extra spending. If a card requires a large purchase to unlock a voucher or fee waiver, count it only when that purchase was already planned. Also check how cashback is posted, whether EMI, rent, wallet loads, government payments or fuel are excluded, and whether returns reverse an earlier reward. The best result is the card that creates dependable net value while the full statement balance is paid by the due date.

Your monthly inputs are annualised and evaluated against every automatic card profile. Supported category rates, reward caps and milestones are applied first. The engine then checks whether eligible annual spending reaches the fee-waiver threshold. If it does not, the annual fee and GST are subtracted to produce net annual value. Benefits without a dependable cash value remain visible on the card page but do not inflate the result.
The ranking inside the calculator is personal to the amounts entered. The card list above uses only a clearly labelled discovery signal based on terms clarity and reward usability, so it should not be interpreted as “best card” advice. Confirm current fees, exclusions and eligibility on the official issuer page before applying.

Not always. A paid card can produce more net value when its extra cashback exceeds the fee and GST, but only for a matching spending pattern.
The advertised rate may cover only selected transactions and may have a monthly cap. Other spending can earn a lower rate or no cashback.
Rules differ by issuer and many programmes exclude EMI conversions. Check the official terms linked from each card page.
Yes. Accurate Paisa converts supported rewards to a conservative rupee value and then compares net annual value after fees.
