Fuel credit cards in India

Compare fuel cards using eligible outlet rewards, surcharge-waiver limits, monthly caps and annual fees against your normal fuel budget.

Decision checklist

What the calculation must check

1

Eligible outlets

Confirm whether the higher rate applies at one fuel company, selected stations or all eligible fuel merchants.

2

Transaction band

Check the minimum and maximum purchase size allowed for surcharge waivers or rewards.

3

Statement cap

Convert monthly reward and surcharge-waiver caps into the maximum annual benefit.

Practical guide

How to choose a fuel card

Fuel-card value may come from reward points, a fuel surcharge waiver or both. A surcharge waiver is not automatically a reward on the full purchase amount; it can have a transaction range, tax treatment and monthly ceiling. Co-branded cards may also earn their strongest return only at the named oil company. Accurate Paisa models supported monetary rules and keeps outlet restrictions visible so the calculated saving is not mistaken for a universal discount.

Enter the amount your household normally spends on fuel each month and include the rest of your card spending. The value engine annualises the profile, applies the eligible fuel rate and supported cap, then checks fee-waiver spending before subtracting the annual fee and GST. This exposes the break-even point: a paid fuel card makes sense only when the additional fuel value exceeds its recurring cost compared with a simpler card.

Check outlet availability on your usual routes, merchant-category coding, minimum transaction size, maximum transaction size and whether the surcharge waiver itself is capped. Some fuel purchases earn no ordinary reward points even when a surcharge is waived. Keep receipts until the statement is checked, and do not split transactions unless issuer terms allow it. As with every category, paying the full statement balance is more important than the reward rate.

Transparent method

How Accurate Paisa turns features into rupees

Your monthly inputs are annualised and evaluated against every automatic card profile. Supported category rates, reward caps and milestones are applied first. The engine then checks whether eligible annual spending reaches the fee-waiver threshold. If it does not, the annual fee and GST are subtracted to produce net annual value. Benefits without a dependable cash value remain visible on the card page but do not inflate the result.

The ranking inside the calculator is personal to the amounts entered. The card list above uses only a clearly labelled discovery signal based on terms clarity and reward usability, so it should not be interpreted as “best card” advice. Confirm current fees, exclusions and eligibility on the official issuer page before applying.

Questions & answers

Fuel card FAQs

Is a 1% fuel surcharge waiver the same as 1% cashback? +

No. It usually reverses an eligible surcharge subject to transaction bands and caps; taxes or other charges may still apply.

Do fuel purchases earn normal reward points? +

Some cards exclude fuel from base rewards while offering a separate surcharge waiver or co-branded benefit.

Does the petrol pump brand matter? +

Yes for many co-branded programmes. Check whether your regular outlets are eligible before choosing the card.

How much fuel spending is needed to recover the annual fee? +

Use the preset and your real monthly fuel amount; net value after fee and GST shows whether the fee is recovered.
